Rashtra Jyoti has moved National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in a case involving the assault of a Class 5 student in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich, pressing for an immediate probe into action taken.

The move follows news reports and a viral video from Materiya village under Tejwapur Block in Bahraich, where a minor student was allegedly beaten with an iron rod by a teacher identified as Ayesha Khatun, also referred to as Tabassum.

The video, recorded in March, shows injuries, including bruises and marks on the child’s body.

Material submitted by Rashtra Jyoti to NHRC states that the child informed his family that students wearing chandan or tilak were routinely targeted by the teacher, along with insulting remarks against Hindu festivals.

The complaint seeks details of action taken by the Bahraich Police int he case and victim compensation.
