Rashtra Jyoti conducted a self-defence training workshop in Rohini, Delhi, on Sunday, training around 20 participants from different age groups in practical techniques to protect themselves against mob attacks and knife assaults.
The session ran for over three hours.
Training covered two real-life threat scenarios: crowd-based physical assault and attacks involving bladed weapons.
Participants received hands-on guidance in basic defensive responses, techniques to create distance from an aggressor, and methods to handle a knife-wielding attacker at close range.
Demonstrations were repeated and practice was guided throughout the session.
The programme has been designed by Sanjeev Newar, founder of Rashtra Jyoti. It places equal weight on mental preparedness and physical response, with the aim of enabling citizens to act when confronted with sudden danger.
The initiative was launched in Delhi following the lynching of Tarun Khatik and has been dedicated to his memory.
Rashtra Jyoti had earlier conducted similar sessions in Uttam Nagar. The Rohini workshop is part of the ongoing expansion of this programme across Delhi.
Newar stated that self-defence has ceased to be a skill for the few and has become a necessity.
